MULCHING...A FAST AND EFFICIENT MEANS TO ELIMINATE CEDAR
As a general contractor, I've always been fascinated with equipment and site work. So early on I decided to expand my business to include site work, and especially land clearing. I clear and grade all of my client's lots, and I subcontract out to other individuals and homebuilders to clear land for them as well. In the heart of the Texas hill country, we find ourselves under a burn ban much of the year due to dry conditions. As a result, the overwhelming amount of cedar, mesquite, and other brush must be dealt with in one of two other ways...it must either be hauled off by truck, or it gets mulched onsite. Removal by truck is very costly, and it involves stripping the surface of the property with equipment that stirs up rock, oftentimes leaving a real mess. Mulching, on the other hand, is a fast and efficient way of removing any unwanted cedar and brush without disturbing the existing soil. Trees and brush are mulched right where they stand, and the finished product is a finely ground bed of mulch that maintains moisture in what would otherwise be dry soils. My mulching projects include private individual acreage homesites, entire neighborhoods of up to almost 200 production home sites, ranch clearing, survey line clearing on large acreage tracts, and commercial property site prep.
